Discount: SUMAR2020
Our guesthouse is located only 30 minutes drive from Ísafjörður airport. We opened in summer 2020. Besides our simple but comfortable accomodation, ambitious restaurant and a camping site, we offer various workshops, concerts and lectures. Check out our event calendar.
About the place
Núpur in Dýrafjord is a historical site from early settlement in Iceland. Núpur is the name of the farmland at the foot of a mountain behind the guesthouse. The mountain has a tall wall with a protruding cliff, the real „núpur“, which is a word related to the word „nose“. A pioneering school, Héraðsskólinn að Núpi was founded here in 1907 and ran until 1992. Then the buildings were operated as a summer hotel until 2017. The new owners have now reopened under the name „Númi“ in honour of the (mostly) friendly house elf. We offer reasonably priced accommodation, simple but comfortable, and camping site as well as hearty homemade regional food every day: breakfast, lunch, coffee and dinner. Additionally, we run creative and educational workshops such as kite making workshops, fortune telling lectures, lectures about the healing power of Icelandic herbs and plants and walking, arts and mindfulness. Throughout the year, we are welcoming groups for celebrations and conferences.
The magic Westfjords are also called the Alps of the North. Many nature pearls can be explored close to the guesthouse such as the botanical garden Skrúður (5-minute walk), Mýrafell moutain (5-minute drive, ca 3 hours hike), village Þingeyri (horse riding, mountain biking, sea angling), village Flateyri (beautiful fishing village with hiking trails), village Suðureyri (geothermal swimming pool), Dynjandi Waterfall (one the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, just over an hour by car but even shorter after the oping of a new tunnel in autumn 2020), Hrafnseyri historical site (on the way to Dynjandi). The location of Guesthouse Númi close to Ísafjörður airport (30 minutes drive) is the perfect choice for everybody who needs to calm down and recreate in a stunning natural setting, with good local food.
